Some features of the spirit of Opus Dei:

  1. Divine filiation
  2. Ordinary life
  3. Sanctifying work
  4. Prayer and sacrifice
  5. Unity of life
  6. Freedom
  7. Charity

Relationship of Opus Dei with José María Hernández Garnica

José María Hernández Garnica was one of the first three priests of the Prelature of Opus Dei.

Saint Josemaría Escrivá relied on him to spread the path of Opus Dei in several countries in Europe.

He spent the last part of his life in Barcelona, where he died at the age of 59, with a reputation for holiness.

In 2005, his canonization process began and, on November 11, 2011, his remains were transferred to the church of Santa Maria de Montalegre, in Barcelona.

Cooperators

Without belonging to the Work, Opus Dei cooperators can cooperate in various ways in the apostolic work carried out by the prelature.

They are people of all races, cultures, and religions: Catholics and non-Catholics, Christians and non-Christians, and also non-believers, who, together with the faithful of the prelature and other citizens, participate and collaborate in the various initiatives promoted for the benefit of society, which are open to everyone.

Their collaboration can be both spiritual and material, with their work or with alms.

“We need cooperators like you, who pray; cooperators like you, who smile,”,

commented Saint Josemaría to a Peruvian peasant woman, on a trip through Latin America.
